The
Twilight Book is published by Bloomsbury and available from good bookshops
everywhere. It's a great, absorbing picture book, the basic idea being that every night, between the hours of seven and eight, storybook characters come alive
and can wander as they like from one book to another. But they have to watch the time, because if they fail to get back to their own book by the last stroke of eight,
they are stuck outside forever! One night, Little Tom hears a scream and sees a girl being whisked away by an ape. So he gives chase, and each double-page spread in this fantastic
book appears to come from a different book within the book as Little Tom chases the ape and his victim. And the reader follows too—helping Tom follow the clues, find the missing objects,
and count the clockwork eggs until the final scene—and the frenzied return of all the characters to their proper books.
